Background:
Google sponsored and hosted an event called WeekendApps on Opensocial development for developers and entrepreneurs. This was a full weekend event and the idea was to start on Friday evening 19th Feb and completely design, build and deploy an opensocial app within 1.5 days. All the apps that would be completed would go live on Sunday evening 22nd. The sponsors, namely Google, BuddyPoke, Sun would then hold an award ceremony and declare 2 of the best app as winners.

More then 100 developers and entrepreneurs turned up for this even. Dhingana Team was there as well. We started building an app on Friday evening and successfully went live on Sunday evening. We named the application "Bollywood Music". Our vision for building the app was simple:

- Allow users to discover music with their friends using the rich orkut social graph
- Send musical scraps to their friends
- Dedicate songs or playlists to their friends
- Create and share playlists (will be released in 1 week)
- Search for songs and maintain the musical history for all users.
- Mine all the musical data, from all orkut users and display the most heard songs and playlists on the application home page

Results:
We are very delighted and happy to inform you that Google declared "Bollywood Music" as the winner and felicitated us with the best opensocial application award. As a part of the award, Google will be sending us to the coveted Google I/O event. Another sponsor BuddyPoke awarded us 500,000 Ad impressions to promote "Bollywood Music" on any opensocial network of our choice - worldwide. "Bollywood Music" was especially appreciated for it's well designed UI, native orkut implementaion and the overall vision for the app. The only other app that won was "BuddyQuiz".
